Freezing temperatures can cause trouble for semi-trucks and box trucks. The compressed air from the compressor will contain moisture that can freeze which can affect the transmission, suspension and the brakes. How can fleets prevent this? Routinely drain your air tanks. Change your trucks’ air-dryer cartridge every 2 to 3 years and have the air dryer checked with every preventative maintenance service. Visual inspect all air lines, connections, fittings and air brake chambers for signs of wear, damage and leaks. Add Antifreeze formula to your air brake system and try to park where the truck won’t be exposed to the elements.
